PPI TRANSPORT SYMPOSIUM 18 NAMES CONFERENCE CHAIRMAN

New York, New York, January 25, 2008 – The International Forest Products Transport Association (IFPTA) has named George Hudson, Business Development Manager of Peel Ports Group, as the Conference Chairman for PPI Transport Symposium 18, 7-9 October 2009, Liverpool, England, UK. In the role, Mr. Hudson will oversee the conference committee, review topics for discussion in the conference program, and evaluate abstracts submitted for presentations.

“In addition to his deep background in port operations, George Hudson brings a wealth of experience in the forest products sector,” said Paul Doiron, president of the IFPTA. “From the outset, we know George has the ability to oversee a dynamic program that will highlight key issues facing the industry.”

Mr. Hudson has been an integral member of the port industry for over 40 years and has been an IFPTA member in good standing since 1991. Joining Mersey Docks & Harbour Company in 1999, now the second largest ports group in the UK and a part of Peel Ports Ltd., Mr. Hudson is based in southern England where his responsibilities include all business development, including forest products, for Peel Ports Group. Prior, Mr. Hudson was an integral part for over 30 years in the forest products sector of the Port of London, at Tilbury. In 2007, Mr. Hudson was elected as a Director of the IFPTA.

“I would like to see our delegates take away from the Symposium some really good ideas that they can immediately apply to their tasks when they get home,” said Mr. Hudson. “The aim is to create a conference program that addresses real-world issues and serves as an effective educational and professional enhancement vehicle.“
